THE WHITE HOUSE VISITOR CENTER

In 1995, the National Park Service opened the White House Visitor Center. This facility, located two blocks east of the White House at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., is currently undergoing a rehabilitation and will re-open to provide a dramatically improved experience for visitors. The visitor center is expected to be closed approximately 15 months starting the spring of 2012 while the rehabilitation takes place. The Park Service has opened a temporary Visitor Center which is located on the Ellipse area south of the White House between 15th and 17th Streets, NW.
