Picturing the President's House: CALVIN COOLIDGE

graphic detail

Title: Oil Portrait of Calvin Coolidge

Description: As president, Calvin Coolidge preferred to work in the Oval Office instead of in his personal White House study. Emphasizing historical furnishings, the Coolidge administration renovated the Green Room in the colonial style. A sunroom built on the third floor gave a view of the Washington Monument and the Mall that has been enjoyed by first families ever since.

Date: 1932
